・Working at就職先:「Pharma Foods International(PFI)」 株式会社ファーマフーズ

The company I am working for makes and develops functional food ingredients to be applied for various products for maintaining health. we are doing B to B business by having other companies manufacture our products and our clients are from food, drugs and cosmetics industries. I have been enrolled in the production department and my recent work deals with analysis of the company's roducts.

I was surprised that this company has many foreign workers from different nationalities. It demonstrates that today's Japanese companies are more open to the foreign workers. So there is more chance for foreigners seeking job in Japan. Not all of foreign workers in my company have good command in Japanese, however they are good at their respective fields.

Other impressions I have through working at Pharma Foods International(PFI) are:
1. Muslim workers like me are well facilitated at the office (regarding meals)
2. there is a Japanese class organized by the company to improve its foreign workers' Japanese language ability (the Japanese teacher here is an American who teaches Japanese in English)
3. For companies aiming for global target, your native attribute might be helpful once they intend to expand the business in your home country.
4. How Japanese develop their industries and contribute to the society are interesting and meaningful things we can learn in Japanese companies.
5. You can improve problem solving skill as you understand more what ‘business’ is as a whole, how customers feel, etc.
6. The company owner interacts a lot with the employees.
My company cares about their workers. It would help particularly for foreigners, if you have obstacles with administration, bureaucracy, documents, etc.

For those wishing to work in a Japanese company, deciding what kind of industry and job content you really want to do is very important before starting looking for a job. I suggest that rather than applying for any companies that would accept you, you have to choose the companies to which you have real passion on their business content.
