'My Internship experience' Mr. Burhan Yunus Mamajiwala (India)

Mr.Burhan Yunus Mamajiwala [Mumbai, India]

Master Student [ Asian Bridge Programme]
Department of Engineering
Shizuoka University [Hamamatsu Campus]

Company: SUZUKI MOTOR CORPORATION [SMC]
Department : Advanced System Component Development [Autonomous Vehicle Technology]
Duration : 10 Days
Shizuoka University had invited SMC employees for a guest lecture presentation.
The purpose of this presentation was to provide information about the company and their latest technology developments for Asian bridge programme master students.

At the end of the presentation, I realized that SMC’s advanced technology development is closely related to my research. Keeping this in mind I approached SMC’s employees and introduced my research area. In the next couple of days, I was given an opportunity to join the internship programme at SMC. I was selected in the autonomous vehicle technology department.

I was a part of a team consisting of 10 global members from countries such as United Kingdom, France, Netherlands and Japan. The aim was to identify the functional safety and functional security development for future autonomous vehicles. This was a practical hand on experience for me. The team drove around Hamamatsu city in Lidar/Radar vehicles in order to perform and observe several tasks allotted to every individual.

My task was to analyze several security issues which could be faced by the autonomous vehicles on the road. Towards the end of the internship, I presented my data results to the head of department of SMC and the team members. Overall, this internship experience was very educative as well as an excellent platform for gaining hand on experience in a Japanese company working with global team members.
